In a refreshing twist, Rick and Morty Season 7 won’t be taking any mid-season breaks, opting for a traditional release schedule instead.

The beloved animated series fans can rejoice, as Adult Swim has officially confirmed that the upcoming Season 7 will follow a consistent release pattern. Unlike previous seasons, where episodes were split into separate volumes, Season 7 will maintain an uninterrupted flow. While the exact reason for this shift remains undisclosed, it marks a significant departure from the show’s past, known for incorporating both short and extended hiatuses within a season.

But that’s not the only change on the horizon. Season 7 will also see the absence of the show’s co-creator and star, Justin Roiland, who provided the voices for both titular characters. Roiland’s departure from the series followed allegations of domestic violence and workplace harassment. However, producer Steven Levy is optimistic about the show’s future without Roiland, emphasizing that the quality of their work has only improved. Levy expressed his hope that fans will recognize the same old show, if not a better one.

Despite the challenges, the Rick and Morty team persevered during the making of Season 7. Levy described their difficulties, stating that they had the rug pulled from beneath them. Nonetheless, the dedicated crew came together and refused to let one person’s actions overshadow their hard work. They remained resolute in their commitment to delivering a fantastic season, exemplifying the strength of the creative team.

As for how the show will handle the recasting of its protagonists, it’s a mystery for now. Roiland’s other show, Solar Opposites, used a “voice fixing ray” to explain changes in his character’s voice, and Rick and Morty may take inspiration from this approach.

Rick and Morty Season 7 is set to premiere on October 15th on Adult Swim.
