Fan Interest in Castlevania Spurs on Konami, Says Developer.

“WE KNOW THAT OUR FANS ALWAYS WANT MORE, AND WE DO TOO”

Konami’s assistant producer, Tsutomu Taniguchi, acknowledged the excitement and enthusiasm of fans online for the Castlevania franchise, amidst reports of a reboot.

In an interview with IGN, Taniguchi expressed that the buzz was highly motivating for Konami.

The interview coincided with the release of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, which is a crossover expansion combining the two franchises.

Taniguchi highlighted Konami’s efforts to revive beloved games through the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and the Castlevania Advance Collection, and the relaunch of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night on PlayStation and mobile platforms.

Additionally, he mentioned the launch of Grimoire of Souls on Apple Arcade to celebrate the franchise’s lore.

However, Taniguchi acknowledged that fans always want more, and Konami also desires to provide more.

He emphasized that the opportunity to have a crossover with Dead Cells was too good to pass up.

Castlevania has been dormant for several years, with the last mainline installment, Lords of Shadow 2, outsourced to an external developer and released in 2014.
