Rick and Morty, a show where Roiland voiced both titular characters, announced their decision to sever ties with the former co-creator. Hulu also made it clear that Roiland would no longer be involved as a voice actor and producer for the hit series ‘Solar Opposites’ and the recently released ‘Koala Man’. In addition, Roiland stepped down as the co-founder of Squanch Games, a video game company.
Despite facing adversity, Roiland expressed his confidence in proving his innocence and moving forward with his creative endeavors. However, ‘Rick and Morty’ has decided to move on without him.

In a recent interview with Adult Swim channel president Michael Ouweleen and executive producer Steve Levy, the topic of Roiland’s departure and its impact on the show was discussed. Ouweleen stated that the plan is to replace Roiland’s voice through dubbing, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the essence of the characters. Levy added that the quality of the writing remains exceptional and believes that fans will easily adapt to the new voices.
The search for the right voice actors to portray Rick and Morty is currently underway, with Ouweleen drawing a comparison to the numerous actors who have voiced Bugs Bunny while keeping the character’s essence intact.
Although the recasting of the main characters is a significant change for ‘Rick and Morty’, the show’s enduring popularity and cultural impact are expected to continue. Adult Swim signed the series for a substantial deal in 2018, ensuring a total of 70 episodes and potentially spanning ten seasons. With the show’s sixth season concluding in December 2022, fans can look forward to more adventures in the eccentric world of ‘Rick and Morty’.
