Kathleen Kennedy, the president over at Lucasfilm, is having a rough time over at Disney. She released the Obi Wan Kenobi series, which flopped, and then accused everyone of being racist for not liking the Reva character. Following that, she released the Willow series, featuring a lesbian couple at the forefront, but that failed to attract viewers.
Next up was Mandalorian season 3, which bore the marks of Kennedy’s influence. It was evident when she placed Bokoton front and center instead of Din Jarin, contrary to what the fans desired. Furthermore, the starship cruiser based on the new trilogy of Star Wars characters is now being shut down. This expensive hotel, costing $6000, was built after a whopping $2 billion investment.
Adding to the list of missteps, her Indiana Jones film premiered at the Cannes Festival in France and received scathing reviews across the media. It’s hard to ignore that if Kathleen Kennedy were a man, she would likely have been fired by now. The issue lies in the optics of removing women from positions of power. It doesn’t look good when they have to be let go. People tend to be indifferent when a man is fired, but the sentiment changes with women in charge.
