The Oscars laid down a swift judgement on the former member of the academy board of governors Will Smith. After 10 days of deciding his fate they have chose to banned him attendance from awards ceremonies for the next decade.
He was still allowed to keep his Oscar for Best Actor.
Even though he is not allowed to attend the events in person or virtual, he and his work are still allowed to be nominated if they have merit.
The Board’s President David Rubin said Smith’s actions were, “unacceptable and harmful.” He also said that the academy did not “adequately address the situation” during the live program.
Will Smith had this to say, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”
