The Beekeeper Review

Does this movie sting or stink?

Jason Statham is back! And this time instead of punching Sharks in the dorsal fin, He’s wrangling bees and capping knees. But with the director of Suicide Squad behind the scenes will this movie be sharp enough to sting? Or is this just another stinker?

The Beekeeper is another run-of-the-mill action movie by Jason Statham.  but this time you get some interesting performances by Josh Hutcherson and Jeremy Irons though his screen time is pretty Limited.

The story follows a retired beekeeper, who after losing someone he cares about, embarks on a mission to confront the hive. The story here, though not revolutionary, was a nice modern update on the tried and true revenge mission formula we’ve seen before.

You’d be forgiven for mistaking this for a Matthew Vaughn movie, it packs all the energy, charisma, and style his films have, just minus the fancy camera work that his movies are known for. That’s not to take away from this movie, just to say how good this was.

The pacing kept me engaged as did the performances with the standout being Josh Hutcherson as I’m not used to seeing him play such a different character than what he normally plays (though it wasn’t far removed) and of course Jason Statham was good in this movie as well.

Without a doubt, I would recommend “The Beekeeper” to others, especially to those seeking a thrilling action flick. It offers a good time, providing a perfect popcorn-munching escapade.

While not surpassing the excellence of “John Wick 4,” “The Beekeeper” managed to outshine other recent releases, including “Night Swim” and “Aquaman.”

This is a good film… No Texting Required!

I’m going to give The Beekeeper, 7 punches to the gut out of 10.

So what did you think of The Beekeeper, did you like it? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Did you even see it!?

I couldn’t find a trusted source, but estimates put the budget around 40Mil. The movie has made 123 Mil, so that’s impressive if true.
