Zack Snyder has hinted that extended director’s cuts of both Rebel Moon movies may be released on Netflix simultaneously. These director’s cuts are expected to be longer than the standard versions and will carry an R-rating, unlike the PG-13 rating of the Netflix versions.
Speaking to I Minutemen, Snyder mentioned, “Those will come out, probably, on the same day – later. We don’t have a date yet, but I think it’s going to be in the summer.” He revealed that each director’s cut is about an hour longer than the PG-13 versions, providing viewers with a more immersive experience. Snyder expressed excitement for people to see the movies in this extended format, emphasizing that they are very adult and carry an R-rating.
Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver is set to release on Netflix on April 19. Star Ed Skrein has previously mentioned that Snyder aimed for the sequel to “feel like Dunkirk,” creating anticipation for significant developments in the follow-up.
Aside from Rebel Moon, Snyder is also working on another Netflix project, Army of the Dead 2. He shared his idea for the sequel, stating, “My idea for Army 2 is Planet of the Dead, which is a much more – [it] scales in a crazy way, so [I’m] super excited about it.” The director expressed enthusiasm that audiences are eager to see more from the Army universe.
