Cyberpunk 2077 is Being Kept Alive by a Skeleton Crew

CD Projekt Red Maintains Cyberpunk 2077 with Minimal Development Team

CD Projekt Red has revealed that the team supporting Cyberpunk 2077 has been reduced to just 17 developers, down from the previous count, as indicated in the studio’s latest financial report.

The shift in focus towards other projects has led to a downsizing of the team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 and its accompanying expansion, Phantom Liberty. While some developers have been reassigned to other projects following the release of Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0, CD Projekt Red maintains that the current team size is sufficient to meet the game’s needs.

When questioned about the adequacy of the team size, chief strategy officer Adam Kiciński affirmed that the current setup is satisfactory. He expressed contentment with the state of both the base game and Phantom Liberty, indicating that further significant updates are not planned at the moment.

Despite ongoing patches for Cyberpunk 2077, the reduction in the development team suggests a winding down of support for the game. However, CD Projekt Red remains open to potential changes in the future.

The studio’s decision reflects a strategic reallocation of resources amidst a shift in focus towards new projects, while ensuring continued maintenance and support for existing titles.
