A SCI-FI EPIC

The apes are back! But this time, humans are the ones being treated like trash and the planet fully belongs to the apes now. Is this the next cinematic treasure, or does this movie waste everything Matt Reeves set up?

Let’s Find Out!

In the ever-expanding universe of The Planet of the Apes series emerges Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as a new start of a post apocalyptic trilogy. Right out the gate I hadn’t seen much of the previous films so I didn’t come in with any bias for or against the movies. The other films in the franchise, I heard they were great and technical marvels, but Rise of the Planet of the Apes was kind of boring to me when it first came out. Luckily my taste in movies has evolved and I was able to witness this in the theaters, as it is truly a delight.

Genre and Main Characters

Jumping right into the world we have beautifully rendered CGI main character Noa, there is a human character named Mae in the movie, but her performance was just fine overall, it didn’t really make or break the movie. This was strickly a primate affair and man was it a sight to watch. The world looked cool and overgrown, kinda reminded me of Horizon, or The Last of Us. The villain Proximus Caesar was great as well. Really liked how he reminded me of Koba from the other Ape movies.

Plot and Pacing

This movie was long, but that didn’t bother me at all as during the slow moments we got to get some world building or much needed character development. The pacing wasn’t bad either and your still left with some intrigue by the time the credits roll.

Memorable Scenes and Soundtrack

Among the many scenes that left a lasting impression, the flood sequence in the third act stands out as a testament to the film’s visual prowess and narrative tension. Additionally, the soundtrack seamlessly blended into the fabric of the movie, enhancing its immersive experience.
