Hollow Knight: Silksong Not in Development Hell, Says Playtester

Despite what some fans might think, Hollow Knight: Silksong is not in development hell. According to Graig, a playtester and occasional correspondent for developer Team Cherry, the highly anticipated sequel is progressing, albeit slowly.

In a Discord comment on June 18, Graig addressed the speculation head-on. “Hi guys, I literally know they are not in dev hell,” he stated. He acknowledged his reputation for troll posts and apologized for some previous outbursts but insisted that his recent comments were genuine.

Graig explained that missed internal deadlines are a normal part of software development, stating, “Every software dev cycle ever sets internal dates and misses them all the time. Literally a normal part of software dev. You just don’t hear about them because they don’t announce them to the public.”

Despite this, Graig’s comments were met with skepticism when shared on the official Silksong subreddit. On June 20, he expressed his frustration, saying, “Be me, say something that’s true and something I thought would help people feel better. Get abused on r/silksong for it.”

He sympathized with the fans’ frustration and agreed that Team Cherry should improve their communication. “It really makes me want to disengage with something I have loved being a part of for seven years,” Graig added, reflecting on the negative response.

The lack of updates from Team Cherry has led to much speculation and disappointment among fans. While some see the silence as a strategy, others believe it’s simply poor communication. Comparisons have been made to Supergiant’s Hades 2, which has maintained regular updates and clear communication with its community.

While fans eagerly await news, Graig’s comments suggest that Silksong is simply taking time to develop and is not struggling to come together. A bit more transparency from Team Cherry would likely go a long way in easing the community’s concerns.

For now, fans will have to continue waiting patiently, hoping that 2025 might finally be the year Silksong sees the light of day. Meanwhile, the game remains shrouded in mystery, with the community clinging to every piece of news and speculation.
