Bend Studio Confirms No Plans for Days Gone Sequel, Focuses on New IP

Bend Studio, the developer behind the popular action-adventure game Days Gone, has reiterated that they are working on a new IP, and fans should not expect a sequel anytime soon. In a recent statement, community manager Kevin McAllister apologized to fans for the “false hope and poor information” about a possible sequel, emphasizing the studio’s commitment to their new project.

Days Gone, released in 2019, garnered a loyal fanbase, leading to persistent rumors and speculation about a sequel. The original game’s director, Jeff Ross, previously hinted at what could have been in a sequel, describing it as “the definitive version” with enhanced features like a more dynamic world and the ability to swim. However, McAllister clarified that the studio is focused on creating something entirely new.

“I apologize to our Days Gone community for continuously getting fed false hope and poor information by people looking for likes. It’s not fair to you all,” McAllister wrote on Twitter. “We are currently working on a new IP, and when we have actual news to share it will come from our studio.”

Bend Studio’s new IP, which started hiring for numerous positions in 2021, is described as including multiplayer elements and building upon the open-world systems of Days Gone while introducing a completely new world. Despite the anticipation, no specific details or release dates have been provided, leaving the project shrouded in mystery for now.

McAllister’s message aims to set clear expectations for the community, advising fans not to hold out hope for a Days Gone sequel in the near future. Instead, players are encouraged to look forward to Bend Studio’s upcoming new IP.
