Sony is reportedly working on a movie adaptation of Gravity Rush.

According to Deadline, PlayStation Productions and Scott Free Productions are working on the project.

It states that Emily Jerome wrote the screenplay and that Anna Mastro (Secret Society of Second Born Royals) is attached to helm the movie (Panopticon).

Gravity Rush, a PlayStation Vita game created by Sony’s now-defunct Japan Studio, was made available in February 2012 and gained praise for its paradigm-shifting gameplay.

Players take control of Kat, a young lady who utilizes her ability to control gravity to protect the floating metropolis of Hekseville from gravity storms and creatures known as the Nevi, in this open-world game.

Before a PS4 sequel debuted in 2017, the game was remastered for the platform in 2015. In the five years since, there haven’t been any new releases.

Despite Sony appearing to have no interest in continuing either of these series in the video game industry, Gravity Rush is the second cult classic PlayStation franchise this month connected to a movie adaptation, following Days Gone.

Gravity Rush director Keiichiro Toyama stated earlier this year that he would be open to creating a third Gravity Rush game if given the chance.

With his recently established Bokeh Game Studio, Toyama is presently working on the horror game Slitterhead.
