It’s time to check out another demo from Steam Next Fest 2022. Today’s demo is Anger Foot. You could describe this game as a first-person shooter, but that isn’t doing the weird concept of this game any justice. No, I’d say this game was more of a foot fetish bullet hell with some Sifu thrown in for good measure. So instead of just gun-blazing a la John Wick, there is a vibrant art style and stylish footwear, so more like John Kick.
This game will test your reflexes and memorizations as you have to quickly navigate each level and a single shoot can easily send you back to the game over screen. The Demo lets you explore 10 levels of the game, with the last level being a boss fight.
The first level sees you most literally kicking down doors and kicking up punks. The action is fast-paced and never slows down to get boring. You can use either Keyboard and Mouse or Gamepad if you’re a pleb like myself. Whatever input you select just know the enemies here are really out to get you and that sense of fear you have for them is not mirrored by the enemy A.I.
The Game has a wackness to it that would have you at first think you’re watching a late-night tv show like Rick and Morty on Adult Swim, but that is to the credit of the unique ideas Indie games can bring.
You can run through levels quickly kicking and screaming and racing towards the finish line, but you are awarded more points and new items for pulling off bonus objectives like clearing a level of all its enemies. Pulling off these bonus objectives helps you unlock new shoes for your hero to wear, with each fresh pair of kicks giving you new or buffed abilities. The animation for unlocking shoes is very satisfying as it shows you with a shopping bag and a new pair of sneakers in a sneaker box. It’s like waiting in line for new Jordans; they allow you to fly!
