A Twisted Action Affair That Keeps You Guessing
Matthew Vaugh is back! Known for his stylized approach to action films, can he convince you Henry Cavill is the next James Bond? Or is the cat already out of the bag on this one?
Let’s find out!
This action thriller has a star studded cast and they all seem to deliver fine performances, but naturally Bryan Cranston and Sam Rockwell really stand out. Bryce Dallas Howard was supposed to switch gears at some point in the film, but she seems to stay on that same track throughout the films runtime.
The plot revolves around Elle Conway, a spy thriller novelist, whose book seems to uncannily predict real world events. She then gets wrapped up into an international adventure of spies and lies. This plot has more twist than a Rastafarian barber, some are clever, some are just downright silly. Your mileage may vary.
I wasn’t mad at it. The movie will keep you hooked all the way until the end. Even if it leaves you rolling your eyes just a bit at how silly it is. Think of this like 2022’s “The Lost City” and you’ll know just what I mean. If you liked that movie or are just a fan of Matthew Vaughn’s previous work, then I would recommend you check this out.
‘Argylle’ is a wild ride that is clever, visually stunning, and unabashedly over-the-top.
This is a good time…. No texting Required!
I’m going to give Argylle, 7 spies out of 10.
Argyle certainly outsmarts ‘The Beekeeper’, but make no mistake, this is more Austin Powers, than it is James Bond. In the pantheon of Matthew Vaughn films, this is sitting somewhere in the middle.
So what did you think of Argylle, did you like it? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Did you even see it!?
