Swen Vincke, director of Baldur’s Gate 3, shared his thoughts on the future of the RPG series at the Digital Dragons conference in Poland. When asked if he had any advice for the team that will develop Baldur’s Gate 4, Vincke emphasized that they should “do their own thing.” He believes offering advice could “poison the well,” and he is excited to see their unique take on the series.
Larian Studios, the developer behind Baldur’s Gate 3, has announced its departure from the series and the opening of a new studio in Warsaw, Poland. This expansion aims to support the development of two “very ambitious new RPGs.” Vincke disclosed that while details are still being finalized, these new projects will be large in scale, reflecting Larian’s commitment to creating substantial games.
Despite the extensive scope of Baldur’s Gate 3, Vincke hopes the new projects won’t be as overwhelming, joking that another such massive undertaking might be too much for the team. Fans can look forward to seeing what the future holds for both the Baldur’s Gate series and Larian Studios’ upcoming games.
