Gaming RPG

Completing this RPG after 10 years left the developer in financial distress, echoing their last successful release.

The developer of the highly anticipated game “Unicorn Overlord,” Vanillaware, has faced financial challenges during the game’s development, similar to their previous RPG project.

Vanillaware CEO George Kamitani revealed that he personally covered the remaining development budget of the game after the studio ran out of funds.

Despite being published by Atlus, Unicorn Overlord’s small development team led to Kamitani stepping in to ensure the game’s completion.

Kamitani acknowledged that this wasn’t the first time such a situation occurred at Vanillaware, citing a similar incident during the development of “13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim” in 2019.

Kamitani reassured fans that the 10-year development period for Unicorn Overlord would result in a product worth the wait.

The game is set to release on March 8, 2024, on multiple platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
