Deadpool Director Takes Over Reshoots for Borderlands Movie

The movie’s first test screenings took place in the latter part of last year.

Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool, has taken over the reshoots for the long-gestating live-action Borderlands movie.

According to Deadline, the project’s original director Eli Roth has given up control of it for the final two weeks of filming since he is moving on to an another project.

According to Deadline, the production transfer was “amicable.” This comes after the films’ initial test showing, which happened last year.

There is presently no information available on the release date of the movie, which is based on the Gearbox shooter franchise.

Craig Mazin, who is also the co-showrunner of HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us TV series, wrote the screenplay for the movie, which stars Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Rolan, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, and Jack Black as Claptrap.

The first clip from the movie was unveiled during Lionsgate’s panel at CinemaCon in 2022. Nevertheless, nothing was made public.

Only a silhouette of each figure has been seen thus far.

According to Take-Two publishing house 2K, the Borderlands franchise has shipped over 75 million units as of July 2022.

With more than 26 million copies shipped, Borderlands 2 is its best-selling game, and Borderlands 3 is its fastest-selling title with more than 15 million copies shipped.

Texas-based Gearbox was purchased by Saber Interactive’s owner Embracer Group in 2021.
