Despite initially attempting to keep the project under wraps for a longer duration, Cawthon expressed his contentment with the information being public, stating, “I was trying to keep it a secret for a bit longer, but now that it’s out, that’s fine.” The game is marked by retro-inspired pixel art and a departure from the traditional gameplay, adopting a side-scrolling approach.
The leaked trailer, available on the FNAF subreddit, offers a sneak peek into the game’s mechanics, showcasing approximately 60 seconds of gameplay reminiscent of classic Five Nights at Freddy’s elements, but with graphics reminiscent of the SNES era. The development of “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit” is entrusted to Mega Cat Studios, recognized for their work on the indie JRPG, WrestleQuest.
