Halo Infinite Community Takes on the Challenge of Creating ODST-Inspired Mode

In response to revelations that a proposed ODST-style spin-off for Halo was turned down by management, the Halo Infinite community has taken matters into their own hands. Utilizing the game’s Forge mode, players are crafting their own version of the dream ODST game, reminiscent of the popular Helldivers 2.

Forge mode in Halo Infinite has been a beacon of creativity, enabling players to design custom maps and modes. With over a million creations already in existence, including various genres like Pokemon clones and MOBAs, the community has now turned its attention to creating an unofficial mode named “Helljumpers.”

Led by the Forge Falcons, a group of dedicated players, this project aims to replicate the Helldivers 2 experience within the Halo Infinite universe. Dubbed “Helljumpers,” the mode promises procedural objectives, in-game progression, upgrade systems, boss fights, extraction, drop pods, and more, all crafted entirely using the Forge toolkit.

The comparisons between Halo and Helldivers are evident, with both featuring orbital shock drop troopers engaging in intense battles against formidable foes. While the dream of an official ODST spin-off remains unrealized, the community’s initiative demonstrates their passion and creativity.

As the Halo Infinite community continues to expand upon the game’s possibilities, developer 343 Industries has shifted its focus away from seasonal support, opting for smaller, more regular updates while working on future projects in the series. Amidst these developments, the unofficial Helljumpers mode stands as a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of the Halo community.
