Tango Gameworks, known for hits like Hi-Fi Rush, The Evil Within, and Ghostwire: Tokyo, has released a final patch for Hi-Fi Rush following Microsoft’s announcement of the studio’s closure. Despite Hi-Fi Rush’s commercial and critical success, including an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam, Microsoft is shutting down Tango Gameworks alongside Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Games, and Roundhouse Games.
Hi-Fi Rush director John Johanas and the Tango team expressed gratitude to fans in their farewell message accompanying the patch, stating, “Thank you again for your support of Hi-Fi RUSH. You’re all rockstars!”
The patch addresses various gameplay issues and bugs:
- Fixes collision issues and camera problems in Track 01 and Track 02.
- Corrects scoring and cutscene issues in Tracks 02 and 03.
- Adjusts text discrepancies and pricing in the in-game vending machines.
The closure of Tango Gameworks highlights the harsh realities of the gaming industry, where even successful games can’t always secure a studio’s future. As Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty emphasized the need for smaller, award-winning games, the closure of Tango Gameworks remains a controversial and saddening decision for many in the gaming community.
