Sony has announced that the upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, scheduled for release at the end of October, will require a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to play on PC. As a result, the original Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition has been delisted from both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
PC gamers who were hoping to avoid the PSN requirement by purchasing the original version are out of luck, as it’s no longer available for sale. This move has sparked frustration among players, especially in countries where PSN is not accessible. As we saw with Helldivers 2, Sony faced backlash earlier this year over its PSN requirement, which ultimately forced the company to drop the mandate after more than 221,000 negative reviews on Steam.
While God of War: Ragnarok for PC also requires a PSN account and still maintains a mostly positive rating on Steam, the broader concern is the growing trend of requiring PSN integration for PlayStation titles on PC. Whether Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will face a similar review bombing campaign remains to be seen when it launches on October 31.
As of now, there are only a handful of negative reviews on the Complete Edition’s Steam page, but the real reaction will unfold once the remastered version is available.
