Feels like it was just yesterday I was watching a film about a family moving into a house with a creepy thing inside…
Blumhouse is back! After January’s ‘Night Swim’, a film about a family moving into house with a creepy object trying to invite you into its very own dimension, comes ‘Imaginary’, a film about a family who moves into a new house, where a creepy object tries to invite you into its own dimension. Wait aren’t these just the same movie?
Let’s find out!!
The acting in this movie is fine, nothing will really stand out as Oscar bait and that’s totally fine for the genre of film this is.
While the first act was slow, the second act picked up the pace, maintaining the intrigue throughout the rest of the film.
The scares here were pretty good for a PG-13 flick, I normally would expect more gore, but this went for more creepy atmosphere and classic jump scares instead of creative kills.
The CGI was actually pretty good for how small the budget was.
I would have liked if they could have used the awesome song from the trailer somewhere in this movie.
The ending was really clever and I enjoyed how it played out.
Even though the plot is similar to movie’s you may have already seen before, I’d still say give this a go if you’re looking to watch a solid horror flick.
I have to give big props to the movie for making alot with a little. The film was able to remain scary even with a slow starting first act and pretty familiar character archetypes.
This was a good film….No Texting Required!
I’m going to give Imaginary 6.5 Imaginary Friends out of 10.
Despite entering with low expectations, ‘Imaginary’ proved to be a surprisingly good watch.
And while it’s much better than Night Swim, it still just doesn’t come close to The rated R horror film, “Smile”
I want horror movies to have 2 versions, the PG-13 version since I know they only make them that Rating to sell tickets, and a rated R version that has more crazy stuff in it for the mature audience who wants kills and thrills.
But those are just our thoughts, what did you think of Imaginary, did you like it? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Did you even see it!?
