Jodie Comer has expressed her excitement about working with director Danny Boyle on the upcoming horror sequel 28 Years Later. The Killing Eve star described the project as “so incredibly exciting” but is cautious about revealing too much.
In an exclusive interview with Total Film, Comer, while promoting Jeff Nichols’ drama The Bikeriders, shared her enthusiasm for Boyle’s direction and the emotional depth of the new script. She recalled her impactful first viewing of 28 Days Later, appreciating its realistic portrayal of human behavior during a crisis.
The new movie, 28 Years Later, is a sequel to 28 Weeks Later and will follow a new group of survivors navigating the aftermath of the virus outbreak three decades later. The film, written by Alex Garland and set to be released globally by Sony, features a cast including Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, alongside Comer.
Danny Boyle will direct the film, with Nia DaCosta set to helm the second installment of the trilogy. The director for the third film has not yet been announced.
In The Bikeriders, Comer stars alongside Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, portraying characters in a 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club. The film is scheduled for release on June 21.
