The Nintendo Network’s servers for the Wii U and 3DS are still clinging to life, thanks to a handful of dedicated players. However, the end of an era has arrived as the last remaining Pokemon player, known as Amanda, has logged out for the final time.
A Twitter user named GaffsNotLaffs, who has been monitoring the dwindling player base, confirmed Amanda’s departure, declaring that “Pokemon is finally dead on the Nintendo Network.” With Amanda’s exit, only six players remain on the network, scattered across various games like Mario Kart 7, Super Mario Maker, Splatoon, and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
These loyal players have surpassed the 14-year-old record set by Halo 2 fans who continued playing on the dying original Xbox servers for 25 days. The resilience of the Wii U and 3DS community has now extended to 30 days, with no clear end in sight.
While the possibility of Nintendo eventually shutting down the servers looms, for now, these determined players continue to defy the odds, keeping the spirit of gaming alive on aging platforms.
