LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Lacks Popular Feature

Lego Star Wars

The release date for one the biggest games of the year is less than a week away. After multiple delays and controversies it seemed like we would never get to this point and yet here we are. I for one am ready to jump back into the galaxy far far away and non stop brick smashing action.

This new entry in the LEGO Star Wars series will span all nine Episodes and packs a roster of well over 300 playable characters. Each episode brings with it a small semi open world to travel to and run a muck inside of.  One thing it will be lacking is a feature that at its core is a favorite of brick builders. Something that was included in the very first LEGO Star Wars game will now be missing in this one: character customization.

It was commonly believed that character customization would be a part of the game due to an interview that surfaced in 2019 with @HipHopGamer on Twitter.

Unfortunately for us, things changed and now that feature is no long part of the game. Here is a direct statement from TT Games, the developers of the game:

“Hi! We’d like to address this point directly. This interview was from 2019, and sometimes features change throughout development. We can confirm that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga doesn’t have character customisation, but we do have 300+ characters for you to choose from.”

When asked if the feature would return via an update or DLC they said they couldn’t announce anything on any future updates at the moment.

So there you have it, you’ll still get the biggest LEGO game ever, you just won’t get to make a crazy game breaking custom character to go along with it for the moment. This might be for the best since the game was delayed long enough and there was sure to be lots more bug testing had they included a feature that let you swap all the parts of 300+ different characters.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga hits PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on April 5th 2022.
