Hermen Hulst, the newly appointed CEO of PlayStation, has announced a strategic plan to release at least one major single-player game each year during the holiday season. This commitment was revealed during Sony’s recent Business Segment Meeting. Hulst emphasized the importance of “tentpole” releases from established franchises and new ambitious IPs, produced by studios with proven track records.
The announcement comes amid a relatively quiet year for new PS5 releases. While titles like “Rise of the Ronin” and “Stellar Blade” are anticipated, they don’t carry the weight of PlayStation’s blockbuster franchises. The upcoming State of Play event is expected to shed more light on what players can anticipate for the holiday season.
