Paramount+ has decided to cancel its live-action Halo series after just two seasons. The second season premiered in February, but despite its efforts, the show will not be continuing on the streaming platform. Amblin Television, Xbox, and 343 Industries are actively seeking a new partner to keep the series alive.
A spokesperson for Paramount+ expressed pride in the ambitious project and extended gratitude to their partners at Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television. Special mention was given to showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, the cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, and the entire crew for their outstanding work. “We wish everyone the best going forward,” the spokesperson added.
343 Industries also conveyed their appreciation to the millions of fans who supported the series, contributing to its global success. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the Halo universe in various ways in the future, thanking Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing the expansive sci-fi universe to viewers worldwide.
The Halo TV series faced a tumultuous development journey, originally starting at Xbox before stalling for years. It was notably part of the troubled E3 2013 Xbox One reveal. The show was later revived by Paramount+ to generate original content for its streaming platform.
While the future of the Halo series remains uncertain, the search for a new production partner continues, with hopes of finding a way to bring more of the Halo universe to fans.
