Paramount+ has canceled its live-action Halo series after just two seasons. The announcement follows the premiere of Season 2 in February. Amblin Television, Xbox, and 343 Industries are now seeking a new partner to continue the series, according to Deadline.
A spokesperson for Paramount+ expressed pride in the ambitious project and extended gratitude to partners Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television, as well as showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, and the crew for their outstanding work. “We wish everyone the best going forward,” the spokesperson added.
343 Industries also expressed appreciation for the global success of the Halo series and reaffirmed their commitment to broadening the Halo universe in various ways. They thanked Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing the expansive sci-fi universe to viewers worldwide.
The Halo TV series had a challenging development history, originally starting at Xbox and stalling for years. It was notably part of the troubled E3 2013 Xbox One reveal. The show was later revived by Paramount+ to create original content for its streaming platform.
Despite the cancellation, efforts to find a new production partner continue, with hopes to bring more of the Halo universe to fans in the future.
