PAYDAY 3 SERVER WOES: PLAYERS FACE SECOND CONSECUTIVE DAY OF DISRUPTION

It seems like a rough ride for Payday 3 players as they grapple with a second consecutive day of server troubles. Starbreeze, the game’s developer, claims to be “working hard” to resolve the ongoing issues that have left players unable to enjoy the always-online heist shooter.

Payday 3 had its official release on September 21st after a three-day early access period for select players. However, the launch has been marred by persistent server problems, particularly during peak times. These issues have caused matchmaking shutdowns, rendering the game unplayable for many.

On launch day, Starbreeze acknowledged the problem through its social media channels, admitting to “slow matchmaking” and pledging to investigate and find a solution. Despite implementing server-side fixes, the “instability in matchmaking” persisted across all platforms.

The development team expressed their understanding of the frustration players were experiencing and assured them that they were diligently working to restore functionality. However, the situation worsened later in the day, with another server outage occurring around 5 p.m. UK time.

Matchmaking problems continued to plague players for the next 15 hours, primarily affecting UK and European gamers during the evening and subsequently impacting US players’ gaming sessions.

At the time of this writing, Starbreeze has stated that “things are starting to look better.” Some players are reporting the ability to create lobbies and get back into the game, but others still face difficulties connecting online.

Responses to the studio’s social media updates have been mixed, with some praising their efforts to address the issues and others expressing frustration at Payday 3’s online-only gameplay, which prevents access when server problems persist.

In a separate development, Payday 3 developer Starbreeze recently confirmed the removal of the controversial DRM system Denuvo from the game. This move was welcomed by the community as it aligns with the desire for a smoother and more accessible gaming experience.
