Resident Evil 7 Flops on Mobile, Sells Less Than 2000 iOS Units

Resident Evil 7’s mobile release has significantly underperformed, selling less than 2000 copies on iOS. Despite being downloaded 83,000 times since its July release, the majority of these downloads were demos, with few users opting to pay $20 for the full version. According to Appmagic, Capcom only generated $28,140 from the title before Apple’s 30% cut.

This low sales figure can be partly attributed to the limited target audience, as the game is only available on the pro version of the iPhone 15 and the latest iPad models. This exclusivity has restricted its reach, leading to disappointing sales.

Other AAA games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Death Stranding, and Resident Evil Village have also struggled on high-end iOS devices, suggesting a broader issue with the market for console-quality games on mobile platforms. The overall outlook for these games remains bleak, with none meeting expected sales figures.

Despite the poor performance, there is optimism that the strategy of bringing AAA games to high-end iOS devices might improve over time as these devices become more accessible. The future could see more successful integrations of AAA titles on mobile platforms as the audience expands and adapts.
