Hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been denied bail for a second time as he awaits trial in a sex-trafficking case. On Wednesday, a New York federal judge refused to release Combs, citing concerns of potential obstruction of justice and witness tampering. Combs, 54, was arrested earlier this week, accused of running a criminal enterprise involving drug use, violence, and exploitation of women since 2008.
Combs’ legal team proposed a $50 million bail package, co-signed by his family, with conditions including home detention, the surrender of his passport, and regular drug tests. Despite this, Judge Andrew Carter rejected the offer, expressing concerns over witness safety.
The charges against Combs include racketeering, sex trafficking, and prostitution-related offenses, with a possible sentence of 15 years to life if convicted. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, maintains his client’s innocence, calling the case an “unjust prosecution.”
Allegations and Charges
The court documents reveal disturbing details of alleged abuse and coercion, with Combs reportedly organizing events called “Freak Offs,” where he distributed drugs to women to force them into sex acts. Raids on his homes uncovered firearms and other incriminating items. Combs faces a long legal battle, with new charges potentially on the horizon.
The case has drawn comparisons to previous allegations, including a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Casandra Elizabeth Ventura, which was settled last year after claims of violent abuse. Despite the mounting legal challenges, Combs continues to deny all charges.
This marks another chapter in the legal struggles of one of rap’s most successful figures, whose Bad Boy Records helped launch the careers of stars like Usher and The Notorious B.I.G.
