Sega Unveils New Account System Packed with Perks, Launching with Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Exclusive Costume

Sega is stepping up its online game by launching its very own account system—comparable to Nintendo Account or Ubisoft Connect—that promises to enhance its digital services and deliver a host of rewards. The rollout kicks off with an exclusive free costume for players of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Dubbed the “Sega Account,” the new platform was introduced on Sega’s revamped website. It serves as an online profile that opens the door to numerous benefits when playing Sega and Atlus titles, as well as accessing their various online services. By signing up, users will not only stay up-to-date with the latest news, events, and promotions from both companies, but they’ll also gain access to exclusive bonuses and the convenience of linking their accounts across different gaming platforms.

The debut perk is the Kazuma Kiryu Special Outfit for Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This unique costume allows the game’s protagonist, Goro Majima, to don the iconic look of his friend, rival, and longtime Yakuza series lead. Previously, Sega offered this outfit as a reward for signing up for email notifications, though it’s not yet clear if that policy has been updated with the new system.

Players who create a Sega Account between January 22 and March 7 will receive the outfit via a code, which will be distributed from February 17 through March 7. In addition, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set for release on February 21—a week earlier than originally planned to avoid overlapping with the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds.

While Sega hasn’t revealed all the upcoming benefits, it’s anticipated that future rewards will include offerings tied to its other flagship franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona. There’s also speculation that the system might integrate with a Game Pass–style subscription service that Sega is reportedly considering.

According to a BBC report, Sega is currently “evaluating some opportunities” in the subscription space. Much like PlayStation leveraged its established PlayStation Plus to introduce a competing service, Sega may be laying the groundwork for a similar initiative.

Adding to the excitement, fans are buzzing about a potential connection with the mysterious Sega “Super Game,” slated for a global release by the end of March 2026. Though details are scarce, Sega has described it as a “large scale global title” that could function as a central hub for multiple games—a concept reminiscent of how Call of Duty and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Infinity consolidate various gaming experiences.

Stay tuned as we bring you more updates on Sega’s new account system and the exciting perks it has in store for gamers worldwide.
