Sony has indicated it will not be pushing paid platinum games onto the PS4 and  PS5 PlayStation Store. This might impact smaller devs who have been providing content that many have been willing to pay for. Some of these game are just as simple as press “X” for Platinum Trophy.

There are a great deal of awesome, well priced indie games being buried under the PSN with the rise of paid platinum games.

Sony has a great track record with respect to indie developers, but this could be a tough pill to swallow as it’s quite clear that many developers would rather not provide such content at all. There are a great deal of awesome, well priced indie games being buried under the PSN with the rise of paid platinum games. Well it looks like Sony has taken corrective action.

This could impact Sony’s ability to provide quality content on its store and leave a void that would need to be filled by big publishers

This could also impact Sony’s ability to attract indie developers away from other platforms. If they are not able to provide a viable business model for these devs, it will be very difficult for them to compete with Microsoft and Nintendo (and even Apple). Without the ability to charge for content(no matter how simple), small devs may not be able to afford developing games for the PS4 or PS5. This could impact Sony’s ability to provide quality content on its store and leave a void that would need to be filled by big publishers.
