Now, Sidebar Games, the developer of Sports Story, claims that it is struggling to get rid of the game’s secret development area “due to the way the game is programmed.”
The conversation of the NPC devs in Sports Story’s secret room was modified in an odd way that was quite obvious. Players have lately discovered the same NPCs raving about how happy, rested, and “well-fed” they appear to be, in contrast to other instances where the developers appeared to be complaining about crunch culture.
The circumstances surrounding the entire incident are at best hazy, but it initially appeared that the developers went in and took away criticism of internal working conditions that may have been sneaked into the game before launch.
