Call of Duty’s esports scene is renowned for offering life-changing prize money, whether you’re competing in the Call of Duty League or the World Series of Warzone. Players from both Black Ops 6 and Warzone have countless opportunities to prove their mettle on the virtual battlefield and earn huge rewards.
At the 2024 World Series of Warzone in Las Vegas, 40 teams battled fiercely for their share of an impressive $950,000 prize pool. However, even though the tournament wrapped up four months ago, the winners have yet to receive their cash prizes.
Two-time World Series of Warzone champion Andrew “Biffle” Diaz is one of those left in limbo. After dominating the Trios tournament alongside teammates Kasimili “Soka” Tongamoa and Nicholas “Shifty” Travis, Biffle is still waiting for his portion of the £300,000 top prize. He revealed that Activision has not yet processed his payment.
Biffle isn’t alone in his frustration. He estimates that about 20 players—members of one of the world’s top Warzone teams—have not been paid since the tournament ended. “It’s been 4 months since WSOW, and I know around 20 people still haven’t been paid, including my own $100,000,” Biffle said. “We’ve been trying to reach out via the official WSOW support email, but no one is responding. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.”
The delayed payments and lack of communication from Activision and Call of Duty add another dent to an otherwise successful franchise. While these delays might not be a game-breaking issue, not compensating players for their hard work certainly casts a negative light on the organization.
Activision has yet to announce when Biffle and the other World Series of Warzone participants will finally see their earnings, leaving many top players disappointed and frustrated.
Looking ahead, details about the 2025 World Series of Warzone remain under wraps. With Verdansk’s anticipated return to serve as the ultimate battleground for competitive play, many hope that the next season will bring a renewed energy to the scene. However, if these payment delays continue, they could overshadow the excitement of in-game action.
