Xbox has responded to its fairly subdued appearance at The Game Awards on Thursday, where it chose not to make any significant game announcements.

Following the event, some fans voiced their displeasure at seeing huge announcements from rival platform owner Sony, including Final Fantasy 16, Death Stranding 2, and Forspoken, but nothing noteworthy from Microsoft.

Responding to the backlash, Xbox marketing manager Aaron Greenberg tweeted that 2023 would be “incredibly exciting” for the system and that fans wouldn’t have to wait too long for updates.

“We have a lot planned to show and share about an incredibly exciting year ahead for 2023,” he wrote. “Appreciate folks are eager to learn and see more. Timing is always key, but don’t worry you will not have to wait too long for what’s next from us.”

Redfall, Starfield, and Stalker 2 are among the first-party Xbox titles set for release next year.

However, most of the company’s attention will unavoidably be drawn to the struggle to finalize its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The US regulator said on Thursday that it was aiming to halt the $68.7 billion acquisition because it felt it would allow Microsoft to “suppress competitors” to its Xbox consoles, subscription content, and cloud gaming company.

Microsoft has stated that it is prepared to make its case in court, after the filing of a lawsuit by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to stop its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
