Xbox Studios Closure Sparks Questions About Prior Executives’ Statements

Following the recent closure of several studios by Microsoft, including Tango Gameworks, developer of Hi-Fi Rush, and Arkane Austin, developer of Redfall, scrutiny has turned to previous statements made by Xbox executives praising the games.

Despite initial reports of Hi-Fi Rush falling short of expectations, Xbox marketing VP Aaron Greenberg hailed it as a “breakout hit.” Similarly, executives had expressed strong support for Arkane Austin and Redfall, with promises of continued backing and dedication to their success.

However, the closure of these studios has led to questions about the accuracy of these statements and the extent of support provided by Xbox. Developers and fans are now left wondering about the future of these franchises and the implications for the gaming industry as a whole.
