Yuke’s Producer Shares Doubt About AEW Fight Forever Sequel

Nearly 18 months after its release, AEW Fight Forever has seen mixed reviews ranging from praise to disappointment. With ongoing speculation about a possible sequel, Yuke’s producer Takashi Takezawa recently addressed the topic in an interview with Video Games Chronicle.

Takezawa revealed that the current focus remains on extending the game’s lifespan through season pass content tied to AEW’s evolving TV storylines. However, when asked about a sequel, he clarified that the decision lies squarely with AEW and Kenny Omega, who played a significant role in the game’s development.

“That’s really more of a question for AEW. It’s an Omega decision, ultimately. He can probably answer that for you,” Takezawa explained. “Depending on what AEW wants to do — nobody knows for sure how Yuke’s involvement will pan out, you know. These kinds of relationships evolve and change over time.”

Yuke’s Commitment to Wrestling Games

While Takezawa avoided specifics about Fight Forever’s future, he emphasized Yuke’s dedication to wrestling as a core aspect of the company’s identity.

“What Yuke’s does in the future may be a little unclear,” Takezawa said, “but one thing that is very clear is that wrestling is part of our DNA and will continue to be a pillar of the company. We’ll definitely keep making wrestling content in one form or another.”

This statement hints at Yuke’s broader commitment to wrestling games but stops short of confirming any concrete plans for an AEW Fight Forever sequel.

Behind-the-Scenes Tensions

Reports from September 2024 suggested that AEW may be exploring other development options for a potential sequel. Sources cited production conflicts between Omega and Yuke’s, as well as dissatisfaction within AEW over the game’s release state. Some have described the title as “buggy” and “unfinished,” contributing to the uncertainty surrounding future collaborations.

As of now, fans are left waiting to see if AEW and Yuke’s will continue their partnership or if the promotion will seek a new developer for its next gaming project. In the meantime, AEW Fight Forever remains active with updates and new content aiming to keep players engaged.
