Sony Has Cited Starfield as Evidence That Microsoft Cant Trusted

PREVIOUSLY, MICROSOFT DECLARED THAT IT DID NOT HAVE ANY MOTIVATION TO MAKE GAMES FROM BETHESDA EXCLUSIVE.

Sony has alleged that Microsoft’s handling of Starfield is evidence that it cannot be trusted to uphold its commitment to keep Call of Duty multi-platform. While Microsoft has made assurances to put Call of Duty on various platforms, including signing a ten-year deal to bring it to Nintendo platforms, Sony has raised concerns over Microsoft’s previous statement to the European Commission that it had no incentive to restrict the availability of Bethesda games across multiple platforms.

Sony points out that Starfield, a Bethesda game, is now exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S, which goes against Microsoft’s previous commitment. Sony believes that this suggests Microsoft may not keep to its promises regarding Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard franchises, and therefore, should not be trusted. Sony argues that the implication was there for a multi-platform PlayStation launch for Starfield, although it was never explicitly confirmed.

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority has yet to make a final decision on Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, so it is uncertain whether Sony’s statement will influence the final verdict.
