Fans hoping to play Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra anytime soon may need to wait even longer. According to new comments from Paramount Games Studio, the highly anticipated action-adventure title is now expected to launch no earlier than 2027.
The game, led by Uncharted creator Amy Hennig and developed by Skydance New Media, was first announced in 2021. Since then, it has experienced multiple delays, with its most recent postponement pushing the release beyond its previously planned early 2026 window. While some fans questioned whether the project was still on track, Paramount says development is continuing.

Speaking with IGN, Paramount Games Studio’s Senior Vice President and Head of Creative and Production, Shawn Kittelsen, emphasized that the game is very much alive.
According to Kittelsen, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is fully playable internally, and development remains active. He explained that Amy Hennig and her team are aiming for a very high level of quality despite working with a relatively small team compared to other AAA studios.
Kittelsen also noted that Skydance New Media had the difficult task of building both a brand-new studio and a major AAA game at the same time. Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, the studio first had to hire staff, create development tools, and establish its workflow before full production on the game could truly begin.

Because of those challenges, Paramount decided not to rush the project to market. Instead, the company says it’s prioritizing quality while giving the development team the time needed to fully realize Hennig’s vision.
While no official release date has been announced, Kittelsen made it clear he does not expect the game to launch in 2026, making 2027 the earliest realistic release window.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra follows four playable protagonists during World War II, including Captain America, Azzuri—the Black Panther of the 1940s—Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Wakandan spy Nanali as they battle Hydra across occupied Europe.
Paramount says the impressive gameplay footage shown so far accurately represents the game’s current visual quality, and the publisher remains committed to supporting the project until it’s ready for release.
As for Amy Hennig’s previously announced Star Wars game, Paramount isn’t ready to discuss its future just yet. According to Kittelsen, the studio’s complete focus is currently on finishing Marvel 1943 before shifting attention to any other projects.
For now, fans will have to be patient a little longer, but Paramount insists Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra remains in active development and hasn’t been canceled.
